TUESDAY the 13th

In the Spanish-speaking world, it's Tuesday the 13th
that carries the threat of bad luck. The number 13
has long been linked with misfortune in both the
Anglo-Saxon and Hispanic cultures.
A possible explanation lies in the origins of the
Spanish word for Tuesday. Martes comes from
the name of the Roman god of war, Mars, and as
Tuesday is ruled by this deity, the day became associated
with destruction and violence.

VALENTINE'S DAY

THE LEGEND OF SAINT VALENTINE
St. Valentine was a priest in Rome. He was sent to prison by Emperor Claudius II.
Saint Valentine secretly performed weddings for soldiers, but soldiers were not allowed to get married.
In addition he gave mass for Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire.
Some stories say that the young couples, who Valentine had married, gave flowers and letters to Valentine when they visited him in the prison.
